The primary wing students are enjoying all the new recess toys. It's super nice to have the shed on site to keep the toys close to the playground. More new toys are coming soon!

Mrs. Deviney's 1st grade class had a fun time carving pumpkins. 🎃 We counted the seeds & plan to taste test the seeds soon. Thank you to the parents who came in to help with our special day. 🧡🤍🖤

On Thursday, the JCNHS Scholars Bowl teams competed in our first meet of the season at home. Both teams did well in pool play and moved to finals. The varsity team placed 3rd and the JV team earned 4th place. We want to thank all of the current and former teachers, students, and parents that helped setup, moderate, judge, score, and timed for us. The meet was a success and we could not have done it without you all!

A small group of high school students took a trip to Washburn for their high school art day and were able to participate in numerous workshops including wheel throwing, printmaking, vertual reality painting, clay sculpture, and much more. Bailey Jenkins' group also won the sidewalk chalk contest! It was a great day making art!

The JCNMS Girls Basketball Team plays against Riverside in Elwood this afternoon. Go Chargers! 💚🏀🤍

Today Mrs. Courtney's 5th grade lunch bunch book club started reading the award winning book Tracker by Gary Paulsen. Twelve fifth grade boys signed up to eat lunch in the library and listen to a great adventure novel.

Today local author Helen Dunlap Newton stopped by the EMS library and brought us a signed copy of her new book, Careful What You Hear.

Life Skills class finished up their unit on nutrition and food safety with a day of cooking! They did a good job working together to make tacos, chips and queso, and brownies!

Today, the JCN Cross Country team traveled to Central Heights to compete for a chance to run next weekend at State. In a very competitive, very muddy and rainy regional, the kids competed very well. For the girls, Rowan Robey placed 13th, securing herself a spot, and for the boys, Lucas Meredith and Max Kane placed 4th and 5th respectively, earning a spot at state as individuals. The boys team qualified as a group, placing 3rd altogether, so they all will compete next weekend. Thank you to all who have supported the team this season and braved the treacherous conditions today to cheer them on. The boys will run at 11:10am next Saturday, and Rowan will compete at 12:55pm at Wamego Country Club.
