The EMS has started monthly character traits this year! The character trait from September was PERSEVERANCE!
Teachers nominated students who showed perseverance!
Throughout the day I will be posting pictures of our perseverance winners!!

Congratulations to our Middle School volleyball team for an outstanding , undefeated season. The team finished with a 19-0 record. The team won the NEKL tournament yesterday. They have won the NEKL two years in a row.
Thank you to the cheerleaders and pep club for bringing a lot of energy and excitement to the gym.

Mr. Schneider’s middle school students engaged kindergarten students in Preamble presentations. Well done!

EMS students were bussed to Winchester for the High School homecoming parade. They gathered a lot of candy, saw friends and family walking in the parade and saw a fellow kindergarten friend riding in the fire truck. Another exciting event at JCN!

Thank you all so much for your Boo Gram orders! We are no longer taking orders for crochet ghost plushies as I need time to make them each by hand! However, we still have these amazing options available to you! Order forms are due by October 16th! Look for us this Friday (10/6) and next Friday (10/13) at the HS Concession Stands! We'll have order forms available there as well!! Thank you so much for supporting the JCN Theatre Department!

Washburn University hosted a Theatre Day in which students could come and learn different aspects of theatre. Our students learned everything from stage management to improv. We ended our day by watching Gruesome Playground Injuries by Rajiv Joseph. Overall, it was a great day, and our students learned a lot!

Congratulations to Emily Langley on being accepted to Kansas State University, Drury University, KSKCC, and Friends University. #JCN Proud #Accepted

Congrats to the JCNEMS volleyball team! 💚🏐💚 They finished the year 19-0, winning the NEKL Volleyball Tournament. There was a great crowd to cheer on the Lady Chargers.

6th Grade Band Parents:
Our 6th Grade Beginning Band has their first concert this Tuesday, Oct 3 (separate from the 7-12 grade concert). Please plan to have your student at the EMS in Nortonville by 6:40pm. The dress for this first concert will be "nice clothes," or "Sunday best." We want this to feel special for the kids and dressing up plays a big part in that feeling. The concert itself will begin at 7:00pm and will be very brief. They will need their instruments and their Essential Elements books.
Dress for first concert, Oct 3
Boys: Slacks/khakis, button up shirt with a collar, nice shoes
Girls: Dress or slacks/khakis with a nice top, nice shoes
Please begin making arrangements to get Concert Black attire as that is the dress for this next concert. Our next concert of the year will be on Monday, Dec 18 at JCN HS in Winchester.
------------------------------------------------------
Concert Black Dress:
Boys: Black slacks, black button up shirt, black dress shoes, tall black socks
Girls: Black dress or black slacks with nice black top, black flats or black heels no higher than 2"

Thank you for your support!

MS Band Parents:
As you may know by now, there will be a 7-12th grade Fall Band Concert on Monday, Oct 9th @ JCN HS in Winchester. Students need to be at the high school wearing their concert black attire with their instruments and music by 6:30pm. The concert will start at 7:00pm and should not last longer than an hour so I encourage everyone to stay for the whole concert and support our music community.
The students will be taken from the EMS to the HS during the school day for rehearsal from roughly 8am to 11am. Please help your students make arrangements as needed to have their black attire ready for the concert if they don't have much time to make it home before the call time.
After the concert, I ask that you take the students home with their instruments. If there is no way to transport their instruments home, we will have a trailer available for large instruments to be taken back to the EMS after the concert.

On Saturday, the JCN Boys Cross Country team traveled to Rim Rock, the home cross country course of KU, for the largest meet of the season. With nearly 330 boys in the race, and only 25 medals given out, the competition here was very tough. While no boys medaled, many set new PR's on possibly the most difficult course they race on. The boys competing were Lucas Meredith (32nd), Isaac Kane (35th), Max Kane (150th), Lane Edmonds (205th), Scotty Roloff (252nd), Riley Burk (259th), and Isaac Laird (271st). The boys competed very well, rising to the challenge of the tough competition.
