The Board of Education Meeting will be held this evening as scheduled at 7:00 p.m. at the District Office in Winchester.
The Cat in the Hat was the perfect ending to our Dr. Seuss week!


The first graders have been watching their chicken eggs closely over the last few weeks. The students let their teachers know if the temperature or humidity isn’t at a good range for incubation. It takes 21 days for baby chicks to hatch from an egg. Monday will be day 21. We hope to watch some babies hatch next week. 🐥 🐣 We will enjoy them in the classroom for one week before they go live on the Keeling Farm in south central Kansas.


Congratulations to our JCN HS girls on their win against ACCHS in the semi-finals of sub-state. They will be playing in the sub-state final on Saturday against Jackson Heights. THE START TIME IS 5:30. There is no live-stream of the games. The games will be broadcast on KAIR Radio.

5th grade had a wonderful opportunity to work with coding Sphero Robots again! They drew shapes, practiced using different features, and coded their way through mazes and obstacles! Thank you Mrs. Chesnut at Greenbush for spending this time with us!

March is Theatre in Our Schools Month! This is the month that we celebrate the performing arts, and advocate for keeping our programs running in schools. In March, I will be posting 31 facts about the importance of theatre in our schools; one each day! Since I missed yesterday, I will be posting both day 1 and 2 today. Today was our blind date with a book party, seventeen students and staff members participated. We had snacks and a great time hanging out.

The February reading challenge winner won a notebook and fun pens. As of today 49 books have been read this year by staff and students!

Hello everyone my name is Madison I am currently working on my senior project. The senior project is a family fun run around Warnock Lake in Atchison, KS. The fun run is to support our local law enforcement; police department, sheriffs department and highway patrol. All the money raised will go bad to them. Thank you


The JCN HS Girls Basketball team will host Maur Hill at 7:00pm in their first Substate game. "When" the girls win, they will play Thursday at Valley Falls for the Semi-final game. The boys will host at JCN Tuesday at 7:00pm against Horton. "When" they win they will play Friday at Valley Falls for their semi-final game. KAIR radio will be broadcasting the girls game tonight. Live stream will be available on our YouTube channel for the game we host.
We are almost to the exciting conclusion of our book Pretend She’s Here by Luanne Rice here in the high school library. The book has sparked conversations and deep discussions among the students.

We will have a boys C team basketball game tonight against Valley Falls at 6:00pm. It will not be live streamed. Maur Hill and Pleasant Ridge will play each other after we have completed our game. These games are make-up from cancellations because of weather.
