The JCNHS Scholars Bowl team received runner up at the 2A Regionals tournament at Maur Hill on 2/3. We will be going to the state tournament Saturday, February 12th hosted by Trego Community High School in Wakeeny, KS. Everyone is extremely excited; this is the first time since 2013 we have been back to the state competition.

Valentine’s Day is almost here! There are just two days left to get your completed order forms into either school office. Order forms are found on the school website and blank forms can be found in the high school office as well. All proceeds help the Junior class prom fund. All valentines will be delivered Monday afternoon on the 14th.

January was a busy month in the high school library. Students came back from break and were met with several new books. We also have a reading challenge going on for students and staff, so far 28 challenges have been met. Every month there will be a drawing for anyone who completes a challenge. This month’s winner won a handmade mug and hot chocolate mix.

Press Release to Announce Superintendent Selection Jefferson County North USD 339 Names New Superintendent The USD 339 Board of Education has announced the selection of Dr. Brad Kempf, as the new superintendent. Dr. Brad Kempf will take the reins on July 1, 2022 after the retirement of Mrs. Denise Jennings at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. Dr. Brad Kempf was born and raised in Louisville, KY, and have been a Kansas resident since 2008. Since living in Kansas, he has enjoyed living in both Kansas rural and city settings and working with great communities. He is passionate about advocating for all Kansas students and public schools' needs at the State level. Dr. Kempf has been in education for seventeen years and currently serves as the Interim Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources in Emporia USD 253. Prior to this, he served as West Middle School Principal in Lawrence USD 497 for five years, Emporia Middle School Associate Principal/Assistant District Athletic Director for four years. He also served as a PK-12 principal in White City in the Rural Vista District USD 481. His teaching experience includes roles as a high school teacher and coach in Tonganoxie, KS and Ft. Knox, KY. Prior to his career in education, he proudly served in the U.S. Army. Dr. Kempf holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education, History from Missouri State University, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Missouri, another Master’s Degree in School Leadership from Baker University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Baker University.
