The fourth and fifth grades made flying dragons last week after we read The Library Dragon. Today they flew their dragons during library class.







September is library card sign up month. This week at the high school all the students were given applications to the Winchester and Nortonville Public Libraries. We visited the Winchester Library and Greta Funk from the Nortonville Library came to talk with the kids. All of our students now have access to three online databases for ebooks and audio books. We also have several new books available for check out at the high school library.




The JCNMS Cross Country team competed at Hummer Park. The team did well!
7th grade - Aletta Borg - 5th place, Riley Ladesic - 1st place, Sawyer Huff - 6th place, & Brenden Riley set a PR.
8th grade - Piper Marshean 9th place, & Kolt Merchan set a PR.

Seven yearbook students traveled to Topeka on Tuesday, September 10, for a fall workshop. Students learned about new yearbook trends, designed a cover, and enjoyed a quick tour of the Topeka Zoo.

High school lockdown has been lifted. We have received an all clear from our local authorities. We appreciate the collaboration with our local and state law enforcement agencies when these issues arise.
Due to police activity in the Winchester area, JCN high school is in soft lockdown at this time. Doors will remain locked and passing periods supervised.

Today, the JCNMS Cross Country team competed at the Silver Lake Invitational. All 6 of the athletes competed very well, with multiple PR's, course records, and medals awarded. Medalists were Rowan Robey, 2nd in the 8th grade girls race, and Riley Ladesic, 1st in the 7th grade boys race. Congrats to all our runners on a great race!

The JCN MS Girls will be playing in Game 1 and Game 2 in the Tri today at Everest starting at 4:30pm.

The JCNMS Cross Country team ran in their first meet in Lawrence this past week. Coach Bays & Coach Wilson were happy with the runners' performances. Good luck to them this season.

Mrs. Deviney's 1st graders enjoyed watching Mr. Leakey's science students shoot off the rockets they made this week. The middle school students chased their rockets as they dropped to the ground. Several students shared their rockets & explained how they made them in class. 🚀
