Both boys and girls placed first as a team. Medal winners included: Girls Varsity Zetta Noll - 3rd and Makayla Ratzlaff - 8th. Boys Varsity Trevor Pentlin - 1st, Ricky Maginness - 3rd, Dylan Wendling - 7th, Cole Burk - 10th, and Logan Baker - 12th. Tom Sharp - 5th in JV. Overall a great day, for our first meet of the year.

What a day to run! Both teams competed very well, with everyone setting a PR in this meet. On the girls side we had two medalists - Zetta Noll placed 6th and Makayla Ratzlaff placed 17th. Boys side we had another two medalists, with Trevor Pentlin placing 2nd and Ricky Maginness placing 23rd. Both the boys and girls finished 6th as a team. Congrats to the team and thanks to everyone who made the trip to McLouth to support us!

Congrats to Mercedes Edwards for earning her first ever individual medal at a cross country meet, placing 3rd in JV. Pretty much everyone who ran PR'd for the year. It was a great day to run and the kids responded well.

Congrats go out to the JCN cross country teams for their work this weekend. The Rim Rock Farms Cross Country Meet is one of the largest in the Midwest. Teams from Kansas and surrounding states attend this meet. The blue division of both boys and girls had over 200 in each of their races. Trevor Pentlin placed 15th overall, with a great race. The boys as a team placed 21st out of 43 teams with 4 runners under 20 minutes. The young women placed 27th out of 32 teams, with PR’s for all who competed this year. Overall great experience and awesome efforts.

Congrats to the JCN Chargers, Trevor Pentlin capped the day with a 1st place finish, with Ricky Maginness at 13th, and Dylan Wendling placing 22nd. The team also placed 3rd overall out of 14 teams. The young ladies placed 5th as a team out of 13 teams and Zetta Noll medaled with 13th place. This year the meet incorporated three larger schools: St Mary’s, Sabetha, and Rock Creek. The weather was great, and the kids competed hard!

It was a cool morning to run, but the team showed up ready and willing. The highlight was the performance of Trevor Pentlin winning his second race in a row. Ricky Maginness also medaled individually in the boy’s varsity race placing 16th. Zetta Noll was the lone young lady medalist placing 16th. The meet had three 4A-5A teams, and a number of smaller schools compete, so the kids did very well and the majority PR’d at PR!!

The kids competed very well!! The Girls team were league runners-up, while the Boys team placed 3rd. First team All-League honors go to athletes who place in the top 7. We had two, Trevor Pentlin placed 2nd, and Zetta Noll placed 4th. We had 4 members who earned 2nd team honors - Ricky Maginness - 9th, Cole Burk - 13th, Triston Wyatt - 13th, and Makayla Ratzlaff - 14th.

An update on the final regular season cross county race. Team placings were Boys in 1st place, and Girl’s in 3rd. Individual medal winners include: Boy’s - Trevor Pentlin - 2nd, Dylan Wendlng - 8th, Cole Burk - 10th, and Logan Baker - 13th. Girl’s - Zetta Noll - 4th, Makayla Ratzlaff - 10th, and Triston Wyatt - 13th. We also had 3 JV medalists too - Josh Schmalz placed 2nd, Jason Melton - 3rd, and Dakota Coffey - 5th! Overall a great day to compete, and a great lead in for Saturday’s regional meet.

State Bound!! The Boy’s team were runner-ups at the regional, receiving some hardware for their efforts! Trevor Pentlin also was a medal winner at 2nd place. The girl’s also ran well but came up a little short as the team placed 6th. There were three girls who PR’d on a very difficult course. We did have one girl qualify, Zetta Noll placed 8th and ran a very gutsy race! The kids ran their hearts out and the coaching staff was very proud of their efforts! Thank you for all who made the trip to Wabaunsee and who cheered us on in sprit.

First and foremost we would like to give a big shout out to the Charger faithful who made the trip to Wamego either physically being there in spirit!! It has been an awesome season, which was capped off by competing in the state meet. On the girl’s side Zetta Noll placed 43rd with a good time of 22:38.00. The fellas placed 6th as a team, which puts them in the final rankings. Five of the seven boys PR’d at state, which was highlighted with a 2nd place finish by Trevor Pentlin!!
