Students attend Yearbook Workshop

by Cindy Johnson

December 19, 2014

The Jefferson County North High School yearbook staff has been diligently working to create a unique 2014-15 yearbook theme.  Actually, they started developing their theme idea last year.  The 2014-15 yearbook theme will be a comic-based superhero theme titled, The Charger Chronicles.  Sophomore Nick Schneider and junior Zack Holmgren with the help of senior Taylor Barnes created five custom-JCN superheroes, one for each section of the yearbook.

To further develop the theme and run it by well-known trainers, seven staff members traveled to Shawnee, Kansas to attend the Balfour Yearbook Intensity Workshop.  This workshop provided the staff members with the opportunity to spend one hour with an Oklahoma-based cover artist, Stephen Williams, and to learn new yearbook design ideas from the national Balfour trainer, Jeff Moffitt.

The cover artist raved about Zack Holmgren’s cover design and told the trainers he would love to work with the yearbook staff from Jefferson County North again!  I am very proud of our students; they represented JCN very well.  But the day continued to get better.  Jeff Moffitt, the national trainer, conducted a photo contest, and the JCN staff won the photo contest and a $25 gift card.  It was a wonderful day!
