Coach Brickell honored for 500 career wins

April 28, 2016

On Feb. 12, Jim Brickell won his 500th basketball game as a high school boys basketball head coach.  Jim has coached for 35 years. Out of those 35 basketball seasons, he has had 30 winning seasons. In his career his record is now 502 wins, 285 losses. He began his coaching career at Stockton High School in 1977 as assistant basketball coach. During the 1979-1980 season he was promoted to head coach and remained there through the 1983-84 season.  While he was at Stockton, Mr. Brickell’s team was sub-state runner up twice, 4th at state once, and 2A state champions in 1981.

In 1984, Mr. Brickell became head coach at Jefferson County North High School.  This is his 32nd year at JCN. He has 426 wins at JCN. He has led the boys to three state tournament appearances, the only three in school history.

Thank you, Mr. Brickell, for the years of dedicated service you have given to our boys and to our community.

We would also like to recognize Mrs. Lynette Brickell, Jim’s wife, for her dedication in supporting Mr. Brickell and the JCN boys team for 35 years.
