How to Stay Connected with JCN on the Web

by Cindy Johnson

October 21, 2016

The Jefferson County North school district has a lot going on, and the district calendar is proof!  To help all of us keep track of all the different activities, there are a couple of options to use:

Charger Notes.  For a weekly update, you can sign up for the Charger Notes, our district’s weekly newsletter, to be delivered directly to your email inbox.  Go to the district’s website, http://www.usd339.net, and click on your school or any article.  At the top of the left navigation bar is a section titled “Sign up for the News Update.” Add in your email address and click on the Go icon.  Your email address will be added to the district’s listserv and you will receive the Charger Notes as a pdf file at the end of each week.

Signing up for the listserv is different than signing up for calendar reminders.  If you have already signed up for calendar reminders and you want to receive the Charger Notes each week, you will need to sign up for the listserv using the “Sign up for the News Update” section.  The listserv and calendar reminders are two separate parts of the website.

The Charger Notes are posted on the website each week if you need to find another source.  Use the “Charger Notes” option from the menu bar at the top of the homepage.  This will provide you will a link to the pdf.

Calendars.  The one-page academic calendar is available on the website by clicking on the “Calendar-at-Glance” link in the header.  This provides a pdf of the whole year condensed to one page.

Also on the website’s header is the “School Calendar” link.  This will take you to the website’s online calendar and where you can sign up for calendar reminders.  This is also the calendar that scrolls on the homepage.

If you are looking for building usage calendars, check out the website’s District News section and go to Forms.  Under the Building Usage section, there are two links to google calendars that will display building usage requests.

Calendar Reminders.  If you are interested in receiving calendar reminders, you can also sign up for those online.  From the district homepage click on the “School Calendar” from the menu bar at the top of the homepage. At the top of the Calendar page, choose the link called “Sign In.”  The process is a little more elaborate than the listserv because there are more options.  A complete list of step-by-step instructions is available in the article, “Want a Great Way to Track School Events? ...the School Calendar is the Answer” in the Resources section of the website.  It can also be viewed directly by going to /vnews/display.v/ART/4252c621ae9df.

High School Announcements.  The high school announcements are also posted daily.  You can get to them by clicking on Announcements under the High School section of the homepage.

Listserv.  The district listserv is an email group that is used to send out the electronic form of the Charger Notes and various announcements such as school cancellations.  For directions on signing up for the listserv, please refer to the Charger Notes portion of this article.

Lunch Menus.  The website’s header also contains a link called “Lunch Menu.”  This provides a monthly snapshot of the planned school lunches.  Weekly lunch offerings are printed in the Charger Notes.
