Senior Awards Night

The annual Jefferson County North High School Senior Awards was held on the night of May 18. It was attended by senior students, their families, and the high school faculty and activity sponsors.  After a brief introduction by Mr. Bedigrew, Mark McMillan, JCN Athletic Director, Rick McFarland, Counselor, and Gary Bedigrew presented the awards.  Most of the award scholarships must be applied for with a letter from the individual student indicating why they believe they should receive the scholarship.  A list of the scholarship awards and their recipients are:
• KSHSAA Citizenship Awards – Nick Clark and Beth Anne Brickell
• Dale Dennis Award – Sara Navinskey
• Regents Curriculum Completers :  Eric Ballard, Brad Bengel, Jessica Benner, Beth Anne Brickell, Nick Clark, Justin Erhart, Megan Hill, Phoenix Hutchinson, Tori Lange, Molly Lyon, Hayden Minor, Sara Navinskey, Michael Preut, and Laura Wallace.
• National Honor Society Inductees – Curtis Brown, Amber Huffman, Tori Lange, Sara Peres, and Krista Weishaar.
• FHSU – Fort Hays Bronze Award – Heather Zacharias
• Kansas State Outstanding Math/Science Student – Phoenix Hutchinson
• Kansas State Scholar – Jessica Benner, Nick Clark, Molly Lyon, Hayden Minor, Sara Navinskey, Michael Preut, and Laura Wallace.
• Galen Kelly Memorial Scholarship – David Pangburn
• JCI Scholarship – Quentin McAfee
• Nortonville Sons of the American Legion Scholarship – Lincoln Kingman
• Scott Slava Memorial Scholarship – Sara Navinskey
• National Merit Scholarship Competition- Commended Students -Laura Wallace, Michael Preut,  Finalist -Molly Lyon
• Kenneth H. Cooke Memorial Scholarships – Valedictorian – Jessica Benner, Molly Lyon, Sara Navinskey, Michael Preut, and Laura Wallace. Salutatorian – Lincoln Kingman,  3rd in Class – Laura Flory and Hayden Minor
• Tony Noll Scholarship – Quentin McAfee and Sara Navinskey
• Virginia Ehlers Scholarship – Sara Navinskey
• Rodney Vossler Scholarship –Amber Huffman
• Ralph and Dorothy Curry Memorial Scholarship – Beth Anne Brickell

• FW Huston/Zetta Huston Scholarships – Molly Lyon and Laura Wallace
