Boys' basketball plays a near even season
by Coach Brickell
The boys' varsity basketball team finished the 2009-10 basketball season with 12 wins and 10 losses.
Highlights of the season were finishing second at the McLouth tournament and defeating 4A State ranked Pleasant Ridge on their home floor. The future of JCN boys' basketball is bright as two freshmen, four sophomores, and two juniors all played significant minutes on the varsity team.
I want to express appreciation to my assistants Dave Schuler and Jason Noll, whose passion and commitment to the program once again is unparalleled. The JV team finished with a record of 10 wins and 6 losses.
Thanks to: Phoenix Hutchinson and Jake Brickell, managers; Ty Brickell, stats; Raymond Riley, scorebook; Doug Mailen, filming; and all others who helped at various times throughout the season.
Speaking for the team, we would like to thank the cheerleaders, band, parents, booster club, and fans for all their support. A special thanks to Amy McMahon and Steve Hale for preparing the meals before our sub-state games. Thanks to Brian Lackey for working with the players in the weight room getting them bigger and stronger.
Finally, thanks to the members of the 2009-10 team and best of luck to our three seniors Nick Clark, Tyler Leakey, and Cody McMahon, in their future endeavors.
Individual honors for the year were:
- Jeff Hale: All League, McLouth All-Tournament Team, Honorable Mention Atchison Globe.
- Nick Clark: McLouth All-Tournament Team, and he was chosen to play in the Highland All-Star Game.
