EMERGENCY SCHOOL CLOSINGS

School closings will be broadcast on radio and television stations listed below.  We will continue to use our voice messaging system that will automatically call your home (or a designated number) to warn of school closings.

As soon as it is determined that weather or other conditions exist making it advisable to cancel/postpone school for the day, or dismiss earlier than scheduled, TV and radio stations will be notified.  Dismissal time will be approximately one hour after the stations are notified.

Emergency dismissal of school is necessary at times.  Snow, plumbing, or heating problems, or other conditions may result in school not being held or in early dismissal.

CALENDAR CHANGES:

• There will be no Freshman Girls Basketball game played on February 5 at Jackson Heights
• DVL Art Show at Oskaloosa on April 19 is changed to April 12 at Jackson Heights
• HS Track @ Sabetha on May 7 has been cancelled

CALENDAR ADDITION:
HS Varsity Track at Atchison High School on April 16 at 3:30 p.m.

• March 12, Parent/Teacher Conference Staff Makeup Day

PRE-SCHOOL STUDENTS 2010-2011:
Jefferson County North is interested in obtaining names and date of birth of any child who will be eligible to attend Pre-School during the 2010-2011 school year.  Any child who is four years of age on or before August 31, 2010 is eligible.  If you know of anyone please call the Elementary/Middle School Office at (913) 886-3870.  It is extremely important that we receive everyone's name that will be attending.

KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS 2010-2011:
Jefferson County North is interested in obtaining names and date of birth of any child who will be eligible to attend Kindergarten during the 2010-2011 school year.  Any child who is five years of age on or before August 31, 2010 is eligible.  If you know of anyone please call the Elementary/Middle School Office at (913) 886-3870.  It is extremely important that we receive everyone's name that will be attending.  This will help the school prepare for kindergarten round up on April 15 & 16.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES:
Preschool-12th grade conferences will be Tuesday, March 9, 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the elementary/middle school in Nortonville.  Preschool-5th grade conferences will again be at the elementary/middle school on Thursday, March 11, 4:00-8:00 p.m. and 6th-12th grade will be at the high school in Winchester.  If an elementary/middle school parent prefers one night over another or a particular conference time, please contact the school.  The conferences for elementary students are scheduled at 15 minute intervals.  If a parent desires a longer conference, please contact the EMS office in advance at 913-886-3870 or toll-free at 877-215-4132.
