The Sound of Music Spotlights New Faces on Stage

This year's fall musical, The Sound of Music, featured many Jefferson County North High School theatre students, but also featured students new to the JCN stage. The cast included JCN Thespians but also a student from Belgium, incoming freshmen, some elementary and middle school students and a high school senior new to the high school stage.
This show has taught us many things; blessed nun habits can’t be borrowed, there are generous people who share everywhere, authentic period German-Austrian attire have numerous buttons, pianists do not grow on trees, a show is a big commitment, and even the smallest of us in size can have a huge impact on a production.
Seriously, producing “The Sound of Music” has been a unique adventure. In the midst of it we have been reminded of the joy of singing at any age, and that a person of conviction is one to be respected. This cast worked diligently to portray the courage of the von Trapp family.
Special thanks to my seamstresses, all of the parents, our cast and crew, my assistants Tammy Gigstad and Ann Hutchinson, my building crew, the community, and our faculty, staff, and administration for all of their support. A show like this could never have happened without so many helping. Look for more to come in April when Little Women is performed on our JCN stage.
