2009 Cross Country

The 2009 JCN boys' CC team was the 6th boys' team in the last 8 years to qualify for state. Members of the state team were Seniors - Brad Bengel, Tyler Leakey, and Edouard Huyghebart, Juniors - Landon Noll and Jacob Schrick, Sophomores - Billy Noll and Brett Manville, and Freshman - Dallas Edwards.
The boys won the Wabaunsee and Jackson Heights meets, finished second at the Troy and Centralia meets. They finished 3rd at regional’s, which qualified them for state where they finished 7th out of 64 3A schools. The boys' team should be strong again next year as we return 5 of the 8 boys that were on the state team.
The girls' team won the Troy meet, finished 4th at league and 7th at regionals. The girls' team has the potential to be strong next year but will need to replace senior runners, Lincoln Kingman and Tori Lange.
Thanks to my assistant Lynette Brickell for all she did throughout the year and to Kate Brickell and Brandy Crail for the fine job they did as managers. Thank you to the parents, the JCN Booster Club and supporters of team for the many things you did for the team this year.
Thanks to Justin Finley for cutting a path for us to practice at Camp Curry and to the Reformed Presbyterian Church and Reverend Paul Finley for allowing us to practice at Camp Curry.
Finally, I want to thank the members of the team who once again made my job as a coach a fun and rewarding one. Special thanks to the state boys who worked hard to become very good runners and lead us back to state again.
The JCN Cross Country teams had very large numbers out this year with 21 boys and 8 girls running. Listed below are these runners.

All league runners - Brad Bengel - 2nd team, Landon Noll - 2nd team, Emma Bassette - 2nd team
Regional medalist - Dallas Edwards - 7th
