MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF USD 339
HELD ON JUNE 22, 2009, AT THE DISTRICT OFFICE
WINCHESTER, KANSAS
The special meeting of the Board of Education of USD 339 was called
to order by William Perry, Jr, Vice-President, in the absence of
the President, Ron Langston, at 7:00 p.m. on June 22, 2009, at the
district office in Winchester.
Also present were Karen Edmonds, Keith Ostrander, Bill Reed, Tony Domann, Tim Marshall and Susan Coppinger.
Keith Ostrander made a motion to approve the agenda. Motion seconded by Tony Domann. Motion carried 5 - 0.
(Football Light Project) Bids from Current Electric; Midwest Electrical; Ardent Lighting Group; Lynn Electric and Heineken Electric for the high school football light replacement project were reviewed by Dr. Marshall and the Board. Keith Ostrander made a motion to accept the base bid and alternate #2 bid submitted by Ardent Lighting Group as presented. Motion seconded by Bill Reed. Motion carried 4 – 1.
(Van Bids) Bids submitted for the 1995 Safari and the 2000 blue Chevrolet van were reviewed by Dr. Marshall and the Board. Karen Edmonds made a motion to accept the bid from Tim Thomas for the 1995 Safari van as presented. Motion seconded by Tony Domann. Motion carried 5 – 0.
Karen Edmonds made a motion to reject the one bid received for the Chevrolet van. Motion seconded by Tony Domann. Motion carried 5 – 0.
It was the consensus of the Board to allow Dr. Marshall to study alternatives for the disposal of the Chevrolet van.
(Negotiations) Tony Domann made a motion at 7:19 p.m. to go into executive session for 20 minutes, with the Superintendent, to discuss negotiations in order to protect the public interest in negotiating a fair and equitable contract. Motion seconded by Keith Ostrander. Motion carried 5 – 0.
JR Perry called the meeting back into regular session at 7:39 p.m.
Tony Domann made a motion at 7:40
p.m. to go into executive session for 10
minutes, with the Superintendent, to discuss negotiations in order
to protect the public interest in negotiating a fair and equitable
contract. Motion seconded by Keith Ostrander. Motion carried 5 –
0.
JR Perry called the meeting back into regular session at 7:50
p.m.
JR Perry called a Special Meeting for Monday, June 29, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. at the district office in Winchester.
JR Perry adjourned the meeting at 7:55 p.m.
