2008 Science Fair
by Rich Leakey, Teacher
On Wednesday, April 30th, the 10th annual Jefferson County North
Middle School science fair was held. There were many great exhibits
this year. The students had a good mix of exhibits stemming from
microbiology, biology and consumer science. We had everything from
cow feces to bridges. The aspect I enjoy the most is that the
students are allowed to do what they are interested in. This makes
the project theirs and they tend to take more pride developing
it.
This year the eighth-grade had a total of seventeen medals, while
the seventh-grade had six medals. Overall both groups did very
well. The following are medals winners in each class:
8th grade
Andrew Domann, Katie Twenhafel, Dalton Minor, Christopher
Bolinger, Jordan Kramer, Marah Koons, Hailer Sayer, Kimberly
Cooper, Kate Brickell, James Priest, Brett Manville, Kyle Polson,
Breanna Place, Darrin Schmidt, Austin Noll, Justin Abel, Emma
Bassett.
7th grade
Morgan Wentz, Kymee Noll, Andrew Wolfe, Erin Wallace, Cory
Noll, Kayla Higgins.
In closing I would like to thank everyone who helped make the science fair a success. A big thanks goes out to the judges, Mrs. Whetstine and Mrs. Bunck. Also to Mrs. Banks for the pictures, the custodians, the faculty, the administration, the parents and especially the students.
