Resources Available for Families with Young Children Three Ways
If you are the caregiver of a child birth through Kindergarten entry and have questions or concerns about whether they are developing on schedule, consider contacting one of the following resources provided to you by your school district and Keystone Learning Services:
- Parents As Teachers--Providing free, research-based information and support to parents of children prenatal through age 3. Contact Elaine Scott at 913-367-1442 or leave a message at JCN-EMS at 913-886-3870
- tinyK--providing a team of early childhood specialists to assess and help your child that may not be reaching certain developmental milestones on schedule. If you have concerns about your 0-3 year old child's motor skills, speech/language development, medical issues, diet/nutrition issues, behavior, etc. tinyK can help. Contact them through Parents As Teachers, Elaine Scott, 913-367-1442 or through their office in Lecompton at 785-887-6004 ext. 3, or at the May 9 Count Your Kid in Clinic in Nortonville.
- Early Childhood Services--providing a team of early childhood specialists to assess and support children 3-5 years old who may need extra help in ensuring they will be ready to succeed when they reach preschool and kindergarten. This team provides guidance and direction in the areas of motor skills, speech and lang., social and emotional skills, and more. Contact them through Janet Tust, school psychologist at the May 9 Count You Kid in Clinic, jtust@nekesc.org or 785-597-5156.
