The Jefferson County Music Students have been competing at various contests these past few weeks.  Our first competition was the Regional Piano Festival at Baldwin City.  Cooper Hart was our lone entry and received a II rating on her piano solo.

High School DVL Contest followed on February 21st at Highland Community College.  The entire band and chorus, along with solos and ensembles, competed.  The band was very pleased to have Mrs. Peggy Mailen and Mr. Mark McMillan sponsor the buses.  Mrs. Gigstad and Mrs. Mollie Lane accompanied the solos.

Results are as follows:

The 7th/8th grade students hit the contest scene on Saturday, March 8th, when they traveled to Washburn University for the annual solo festival.  Students performed a solo for 3 college students and received verbal and written comments.  This is a great learning experience for our young musicians and the results were as follows:

I- rating for Shane Noll, tuba, Jordan Kramer, flute, Ariel Peterson, vocal, Emma Bassette, piano and Jordyn Mize, trumpet.
