Students Experience Dr. Seuss Day
By Kelly Jobbins
The Pre-K -2 grades celebrated Read Across America with Dr. Seuss Day on March 3rd. In the morning the K-2 students enjoyed eating green eggs and ham and listening to Representative Tafanelli read the book Green Eggs and Ham. There were several activities and projects set up for students to experience that were centered around a particular Dr. Seuss book.
For example, the First Grade teachers read Butter Battle by Dr. Seuss and then the students made butter from cream. At another station, all students were able to win prizes after playing Dr. Seuss bingo and the students loved making Dr. Seuss hats to go along with the reading of the Cat in the Hat book. To conclude the day, Dr. Marshall was a guest reader for us and read the famous Cat in the Hat book. We also sang happy birthday to Dr. Seuss and ate red and white striped cupcakes in honor of his birthday.
