*Santa Express Toy Fair*
COLLECTION PHASE: Please continue to clean out those toy boxes of gently used toys, games, books -OR- remember a Jefferson County child who may not find something under the tree this holiday season when you are shopping for your own child, and pick up an extra toy, game, or book to donate. The Jefferson Early Childhood Council will continue accepting donations through Monday Dec. 10th. Look for donation boxes at either local library, Nortonville city hall office, JCN-EMS -OR- call Parents As Teachers Parent Educator Elaine Scott @ 913.367.1442 to schedule a donation pick-up. To make a cash donation, to be used to purchase hats and mittens to distribute at Santa's Toy Fair, please make checks payable to Jefferson County Early Childhood Council and send to either Karen Wheeles (785.213.4481) in care of the Oskaloosa Library -OR- Trisha Boyd (785.863.2161) in care of A Child's World Day Care in Oskaloosa...please indicate the donation is for the Santa Express Toy Fair hat & mitten fund.
DISTRIBUTION
PHASE: The Jefferson County Early Childhood Council members
will be busy early in the week of December 9th, sorting, cleaning,
displaying, installing batteries, and setting up Santa's Toy
Express Shop (better known as the Oskaloosa Library Meeting
Room). Santa's helpers will open their doors to the families
of Jefferson County on Wednesday, December 12th from 11am - 6pm and
again on Thursday, December 13th from 10am-2pm. Adults may
come "buy" toys, games, books for their child (ages birth through 8
years) for Christmas by using non-perishable food items to exchange
for each item. Thank you JCN Chargers throughout the district for
your generosity and caring in this project of the Jefferson County
ECC. Our hope with this Santa Express Toy Fair is that every
child in Jefferson County wakes on Christmas morning to the feeling
of being special and valued by finding a gift under their tree.
*FAMILY TRADITIONS PLAY GROUP*
Thursday,
December 6th from 6:30pm - 7:30pm families of our youngest students
in U.S.D. 339 will have a chance to gather at the EMS lunchroom to
share the holiday fun. Parents As Teachers of Jefferson
County North School District will once again host an evening of
holiday & family traditions such as trimming the tree (toddler
style), singing holiday songs (like Rudolph and Jingle Bells),
decorate and share holiday cookies with a cold carton of milk, get
their picture taken with Santa, take home fun surprises, and
more! So bundle and pack up the kids, your camera, grandma
& grandpa, and your holiday spirit and join us Thursday evening
December 6th at 6:30pm for our annual Family Traditions Fun!
This event is open to any family in the district who is expecting a
child or has a child birth through preschool age. For
